  1. This is the README file for UDEF.EXE which contains USERDEF.EXE
  2. Version 3.56 which replaces USERDEF.EXE v3.50 that ships with 
  3. NNS v1.0 for NetWare v2.15C and above and NetWare v3.x.

  10. Purpose:
  11.  
  12. 1)  USERDEF.EXE Version 3.56 supports NCP Packet Signature.
  13.  
  14. 2)  With USERDEF.EXE v3.54 and earlier the following sequence will cause 
  15. a "run-time R6001 -null pointer assignment" error to occur when you have 
  16. more than 50 groups defined in the bindery.  Load USERDEF.EXE select Edit/View 
  17. Templates, select a template from the list, then select View Parameters.  
  18. It is possible that the border of the template parameter screen will show
  19. some corruption.  When you exit USERDEF.EXE you will get the above mentioned
  20. run-time error.  USERDEF.EXE Version 3.56 fixes this problem.

  22. 3)  When you enter the parameter screen USERDEF.EXE builds a 50 x 40 array
  23. and reads in the groups from the bindery.  When more than 50 groups exist 
  24. the array is over run which causes the null pointer assignment.  
  25. USERDEF.EXE v3.56 creates an array that is 250 x 40.

  27. To install this utility:  
  28.  
  29. 1)   Flag USERDEF.EXE as SRW (Shareable Read Write) in the PUBLIC directory.
  30.  
  31. 2)   Rename USERDEF.EXE to USERDEF.OLD in the PUBLIC directory for backup
  32.      purposes.
  33.  
  34. 3)   Copy USERDEF.EXE to the PUBLIC directory.
  35.  
  36. 4)   Flag the new copy of USERDEF.EXE back to SRO (Shareable Read-Only).
